my friend that commissioned this from me was speechless when came over to pick it up.
at first his prolonged silence made me really nervous!
i thought there was something wrong with it? but he said he was just in awe! :)

This looks absolutely amazing, I love the grungy depth of the colours and the sheer amount of detail!
I love how dark and sinister it is.
Damn, that is one fine piece of artwork.

You're very welcome ^^

Well you've certainly succeeded there =)
each fold of the skin is amazingly defined and everything! ^^

getting contrast between different colors in the folds of the skin was very important!
a lot of attention payed to hue and saturation.

if you look at the white i painted under his nose it more of variations of off-white to make the nose pop more.

little things like that.

I think, along with everything else, I need to work on colour studies. I usually just charge straight into things, but I don't think really thats smart a lot of the time ^^"

Thats very clever, no wonder it has so much depth!

not only color studies, but B&W studies are incredibly helpful!

Beautiful work, Michael! All the time you put into this piece really shows! :)

And I know that feeling all too well, my friend. I've done several specialized Psychedelic pieces for friends over the years that I didn't really want to give up. It's far too easy to get attached to a piece when you put enough time into it.
Even if it is for someone else. :P

the best reward was the look on my friends face when he came to collect his new artwork! he looked more than thrilled!

so in that aspect i was more than happy! plus the $$$ wasn't too shabby!
